Harken back to 1994
Spector embraces the same brand of nostalgism that I'm fond of:
Today in Spector's VCR: Game Five of the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals between the NY Rangers and Vancouver Canucks...Best series ever my friends. It also serves as a sharp dividing line from when Lemaire's Devils won their first Cup playing a snooze-inducing brand of puck.
It's games like those that can make a casual hockey fan a die-hard fan of the sport.
They also serve as reminders of what little excitement we've seen in the NHL, and that includes the playoffs, since the Rangers and Canucks staged their classic war for the Cup in '94.
I had game six of the Rangers/Canucks series on tape for years afterwards — not sure where it's gotten to — but seven was far too painful to watch.
