OHL update: Ottawa ready to advance

The Peterborough Petes are almost ready to throw in the towel, down 3-0 in their series with the Ottawa '67s. Assuming the London Knights are going to continue beating up the Kitchener Rangers — the Knights won 6-1 last night to take a 2-1 series lead (and things are getting ugly between the two coaches) — the series victory by Ottawa will mean a berth in the Memorial Cup.

Ottawa hasn't made the big dance since 2001 and last won in 1999. And although the '67s will be overmatched by teams like Kelowna, London and Rimouski (assuming, again, that this is our final four), the Brian Kilrea as legend stories will be out in full force. The 70-year-old bench boss is hockey's all-time winningest coach, and he'll have to be a magician against the CHLs elite. It's time to get excited about this tournament folks.
