Coyotes lose all-star game, gain Gretzky as coach
There will officially not be an all-star game in 2006 as NHLers head to Turin to compete in the Olympic Games. As reported in the East Valley Tribune recently, the other piece of Phoenix news is that Wayne Gretzky will be the team's new coach, with interim coach Rick Bowness and former Colorado assistant Rick Tocchet serving as his assistants.
Tom Benjamin mused on Gretzky's managerial qualifications earlier, but how about his coaching credentials? After all, the list of successful players turned coaches is a short one, and continues to get shorter as more ex-NHLers try and fail at the gig.
