Red Wings buyout three vets

Globe and Mail columnist Allan Maki made mention of it today in his piece, and I've heard a few sources report that the Detroit Red Wings have bought out Derian Hatcher, Ray Whitney and longtime Red Wing Darren McCarty.

The moves cost $5.267-million and will free up $7.875-million from Detroit's payroll, much of which will have to go towards restricted free agents like Pavel Datsyuk.
