The Top 10 goals of 2003-04
Phil Pilmar posted a link to an NHL.com video of the Top 10 goals from 2003-04, and it's certainly worth a watch. Here's a list of the goal scorers (there are a few guys you wouldn't expect):
#10. Ilya Kovalchuk, Atlanta
#9. Mark Mowers, Detroit
#8. Manny Malholtra, Columbus
#7. Jason Blake, NY Islanders
#6. Maxim Afinogenov, Buffalo
#5. Tyson Nash, Phoenix
#4. Kevyn Adams, Carolina
#3. Peter Schaefer, Ottawa (the video spells his name wrong)
#2. Martin St. Louis, Tampa Bay
#1. Pavol Datsyuk, Detroit
- Have a look on the No. 8 goal as the referee calls a penalty on Blues defender Jame Pollock when Malholtra dives for his own rebound. A textbook case of bad officiating.
- Penguins rookie Ryan Malone makes the honourable mentions reel a couple of times with some amazing moves. Just imagine how well he'll develop now that he'll be on the team's third line.

If you think that was a bad call, just you wait for this season, when the "crackdown" starts. All kinds of marginal and flat out phantom calls are going to be made, all in the name of "eliminating obstruction". Remember what our parents all told us, be careful what you wish for...
In my opinion, the Afinogenov goal should have been #2 on that list. Spinning completely around, and bringing the puck through his own legs to bring it to the forehand. Amazing.
The Kevyn Adams goal... I saw it in person, and it still gives me shivers. Interestingly, though, I don't think it was his best goal of the season. Most creative, sure, but not the most exciting. He had an overtime shortie against Atlanta on a breakaway. The puck crossed the line with 00:00.4 showing on the clock.
Maxim Afinogenov is one of the best if not the best stick handler in the NHL he has a very weak shot though which kills his number of goals. The Sabres are Having a playoff year the record as of today is 18-10-1 in the 5th place in the eastern confrence look out for them in the playoffs. The sabres are also sffering lots of injurys jp.dumont daniel breire and ryan miller.
Very very bad choice for number 2 goal! Amazing movie though!
did you notice goals #3, #2, and #1 were all allowed in by Marty Turco?
