The proud Kovalchuk parents
Hits to this blog searching for 'Ilya Kovalchuk's girlfriend' are coming fast and furious, and, at the risk of being branded one of the internet's 'trashy hockey blogs' (and joining Jes Golbez), I'm giving the people what they want.22-year-old Ilya and his American girlfriend Nicole are the proud parents of a daughter, Carolina, most probably named after the Atlanta Thrashers' division rivals from Raleigh. (Perhaps the name is expressing his hidden desire to play for the Hurricanes?)
In the meantime, Thrashers GM Don Waddell is jumping through hoops as fast as he can in order to get the new Daddy to sign on the dotted line. May I suggest a pair of pink baby booties DW?

Ilya looks more like a young Cappo in a Youngstown mob bar than a hockey star in this photo. I think he'll sign. I doubt the missus wants to get very far away from the family and the bling.
Hey, the biggest gains in publishin are the celeb/tabloid mags. We might as well get in on the action!
I had plans to do the same thing myself a day or two ago (posting a photo of Ilya and Nicole just to shut people up), until I saw that you did it first.
I've been getting about 40 hits a day lately from people doing searches on "Kovalchuk's girlfriend", or some such variation (Don't these people know how to do an image search, instead of a web search? Presuming a photo is all they're interested in). I'm sure 40 hits is small potatoes compared to better-known blog sites like yours, too.

Too bad a presumed jounalist like yourself has not taken the time to check your info. Ilya's girl is not American, she is not even a money hungry little gold digger as you imply. She is a Russian pop singer.
I don't imply anything of the sort. And I merely reiterated that his girlfriend was American from the various wire service accounts of Ilya's fatherhood.

Duhatschek reports here that the girl is American.
Ilya's lady is most certainly Russian (Lithuanian to be exact) her name is Nicole Andrazajtis. She is a member of the Russian pop vocal group, Mirage.
