Minnesota remembers Sergei Zholtok
A good little description from the Star-Tribune of the ceremony the Minnesota Wild held for former player Sergei Zholtok, who collapsed and died at age 31 while playing hockey in Latvia during the lockout.
As Edgar fought off tears, Kuba stood with his arm around him.
"It was a lot of emotions for him seeing how people appreciated his father," Kuba said. "I told him how it was a big honor for me to play with his father. He was a very good man."
This followed a moving video tribute, which included several highlights of an always-smiling Zholtok and voiceovers from Wild coach Jacques Lemaire, assistant coach Mike Ramsey and players Kuba and Wes Walz.
From what I saw of him, I think 'always smiling' is a great way to describe the kind of guy Zholtok was.
