2006 Trade Deadline
Klee dealt to the Devils

New Jersey Devils acquire defenceman Ken Klee from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for winger Alexander Suglobov.

8.5 / 10
6.5 / 10
Perhaps this deal indicates the veteran purge has begun in Toronto? If so, this was a good place to start, as Klee will be a UFA in the summer. Suglobov is having a strong season in the AHL on an awful team and is, at some point, going to be an NHLer — perhaps even a good one. Thumbs up from me.
The Devils do need help on defence, and Klee gives them an element that will fit nicely with the club's defensive system. This team is built well for the playoffs and an addition like Klee takes some of the load off of players like Colin White and Paul Martin (who have been a big part of the Devils' 16-7 run since Jan. 1).
