Mitchell's parting words
Willie Mitchell learned he'd been traded as the Wild was walking off its plane in St. Louis. Players said their emotional goodbyes on the bus ride downtown before Mitchell had to return to the airport to fly to meet the Stars. Before leaving, he wrote this message on the board in the visiting dressing room at the Savvis Center while the Wild practiced:March 9, 2006 - Star Tribune
"Boys, Thanks for all the good times. See you in Dallas. Boogie [Derek Boogaard] keep your head up! Butch [Pierre-Marc Bouchard], Game On!

A lot of Stars fans weren't particularly overjoyed with the deal, and many stopped in to read the glowing praise I gave Mitchell yesterday. Once the playoffs get going and they see Mitchell go into the trenches, I think they'll agree with me.

Shawn Belle and Martin Skoula is a big price to pay. These guys could both develop into top defenders.
Willie Mitchell is one of the better stay at home defenders today (and very underrated), but I think iin time we will see Minnesota made a great trade.
