Hockey Night in Canada just ran a great little feature on spending deadline day with Brendan Witt, a guy everyone knew was going somewhere on Thursday. It was a great idea for a piece as we got to see what it was like to be a player getting all those calls from reporters at '416' numbers (Toronto's area code) nearly an hour before he finds out from his GM.
Witt's a rarity in the NHL in that he was drafted by the Capitals in 1993 and stayed with the team his entire career to this point, so the nerves he was feeling on Thursday were far more palpable than a guy who had 'done the deadline dance' a few times before.
The best part of the piece? Witt started his day on his laptop, reading Spector's trade rumours site. A nice little plug, eh Lyle?
