Argonauts pursue Ricky Williams
The Argonauts are going to take a run at suspended NFL running back Ricky Williams. That's the news from the Toronto Sun today.
The Argos added Williams to their negotitation list yesterday, a day after he was suspended for the 2006 season for violating the league's substance abuse policy for a fourth time.
Three quick questions come to mind:
1) Will the NFL allow him to play in the Canadian league?
2) What kind of salary could the Argos afford to give him? and, most importantly
3) Does this guy have any interest in playing football anywhere, nevermind Canada, which many American athletes consider akin to playing in the Snow Bowl against the Nunavut Polar Bears?
As for the various 'infractions' that have gotten Williams suspended in the States, Canadians couldn't care less — especially where I'm from.

Last week was my first experience of 4/20 in the wonderful province of BC.
Ricky would've loved it here... maybe the Lions should take a run at him...
Uh, most Americans Nunavut is a brand of Scandanavian vodka.
It sounds like the decision will be up to the Dolphins, because his contract is exclusive to Miami.
When Ricky returned to the Dolphins, he wasn't even their No. 1 RB any more -- Ronnie Brown was. But Williams is still capable. He finished with 743 rushing yards in spite of missing 4 games due to suspension. That number isn't impressive, but remember it is the Dolphins we're talking about, and they didn't begin to really gel until they past the halfway mark of the season. If he had played 16 games, he may have broken the 1,000 yard mark.
The Argos surely know all of this - it's just going to be a question of commitment and risk.
Ricky would definitely love Vancouver and all the cheap and 'legal' pot he could get his hands on.
