Ovechkin hits 100

Alex Ovechkin became the first rookie to notch 100 points in 13 years tonight, and he did it in style. Ovechkin scored early in overtime against the Boston Bruins on a play on which he seemingly had very little chance to score.

Then again, that never seems to be the case with 'Alexander the Eight'.

The goal was also his 49th, meaning '50-watch' will be on full alert in Atlanta on Thursday.

Now, now, now CCM went a long way to come up with "Alexander the GR8", which not only gives him an absurd nickname, but also promotes Teddy Leonsis's AOL Chat Rooms.

At least "Alexander the GR8" is slightly less ridiculous for a 35-year-old than "Sid the Kid" will be. :)

He plays so hard every shift, and is so much fun to watch, and after the game all I saw on some message boards was he is such a puck hog, he will never amount to much, Crosby has more points per minute than Ovechkin, Crosby will have more Cups and the better career, etc. My question is who the heck do they expect him to pass to who will have a better chance of scoring? Wait until he gets a lot more talent around him, and then criticise him if he never passes the puck.
