Saving Coach Quinn
The murmurs have already started here in Toronto, but I thought I'd pose the question to a wider audience: Does the Maple Leafs' sudden re-entry into the playoff race and 7-0-2 run mean head coach Pat Quinn will no longer be turfed in the offseason bloodletting?
Three weeks ago, Quinn's firing looked like a sure thing — but now? Not so much.

It's only because injuries to some of those veteran players he insisted on overplaying gave the kids who've ignited the Leafs last ditch rush at a playoff berth a chance to play. It has nothing to do with Quinn, and if he gets another shot, it'll be due to a twist of fate, not because of his coaching abilities.
Why weren't the kids given the opportunity to play more 10 games earlier, Pat? If they had, the Leafs would probably have clinched a berth by now and everyone would be singing JFJ's praises rather than trying to unjustly blame him for where the club is now.
What kills me about all this is that it'll be no better for the Leafs if Paul Maurice takes over--fans down here complained throughout Chairman Mo's regime about his wonderful tendency to grind his veterans into the dirt while pretty much ignoring his younger players unless they did something major to gain his notice.
The more things change....
Bring up Suglobov!
(you can ignore that)
I still stand firm that Pat should be given the "golden handshake" after this season, either send him to the front office or let him go outright. Rick Ley? Bye bye... Acton can stay. I've also heard similar rumours about Chairman Mo, as Acid Queen puts it so well, so my vote for next head coach of the Laffs is Ted Nolan. Who really gives a freakity-freak what he was "rumoured" to have done in Buffalo that led to his demise, this guy can coach and handles all types of players very well. He should be given a chance.
