The GAME of the nightHurricanes 3, Devils 2 (OT)
Carolina leads series 2-0
"This one was kind of a freak accident."
"I've never been in a game like that."
I unfortunately don't have enough time for a full wrap on all of the games, but what a finish in this one last night. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that.
With the teams tied 1-1 and time winding down, Scott Gomez put the Devils ahead with 20 seconds remaining in the game and it appeared New Jersey had tied the series. Unbelievably, Carolina rallied and Eric Staal scored with just more than three seconds remaining in regulation time.
Thanks to Staal's heroics, all four second-round series are now at 2-0.
Sabres 2, Senators 1 Buffalo leads series 2-0
"I was on the bench and I put my head down, to be honest. I was hoping I didn't hear the horn go off or the fans cheering."
The hockey gods were just not with Ottawa last night, as I've also never seen the puck stay out of the net after hitting Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller's leg the way it did on Jason Spezza's chance late in the game.
Sharks 2, Oilers 1 San Jose leads series 2-0
"That was the Black Knight from Monty Python. Body parts were falling off. No sticks. That was unbelievable effort."
Come to think of it, there was a lot of bizarre stuff happening last night.

How could New Jersey lose that game. Scott Gomez said it felt like a "freak accident".
In the Sharks game, actually 2 players lost their sticks. And Kyle McLaren, the lone player with a stick, fell down. Chris Pronger decided to fire a shot against the only penalty killer who still had a stick. Thank you Chris.
Gomez's quote comes from today's New York Times.
