Calling on the blogosphere

Now that I've got some of my other commitments out of the way, one of the things I'll work on intermittently over the summer is updating my Complete Hockey Blogosphere list.

I created this thing back in late March, and with only a few updates since then, I know it's horribly out of date. Just yesterday I added three blogs I'd somehow missed: The Penalty Killer (Carolina), Stormbringer's Blog (Carolina) and Army of the Ohio (Columbus).

And I know there are a ton more solid sites not listed.

If you've seen any recent additions to the hockey blogosphere that aren't here, fire me an email (or post in the comments) to let me know, and I'll do my best to get it up.

In the interest of keeping this a high-quality list, there are just two basic criteria for inclusion: 1) the site should have been going for at least a few months, and 2) there shouldn't be fewer than 50 posts.

Those are pretty easy benchmarks to meet, and I'm expecting this list to nearly double by the fall. (I'd especially like to see some blogs for Chicago, Florida, N.Y. Islanders, Phoenix and St. Louis. There just has to be fans of those teams out there.)

I don't know, Wang may have chased what's left of the Islanders fan base away with his wacky moves. I know I've never been able to find an Islanders blog. Good luck.

Whaddya mean, no St. Louis blogs? Haven't you heard of The Blue Revolution?

*fake laughter*

Let me make up for that by attempting to be useful here...

A writer for the Connecticut Post has kept a Bridgeport Sound Tigers blog, called Soundin' Off, for about a year now. It's not strictly an Islanders blog, though it does touch on the parent club in a roundabout way. Maybe that qualifies it for the list?

A couple more--

For the Anaheim Ducks, there's an MVN blog called Skate The Plank. It started out as mostly a Portland Pirates blog, as you can tell by its name, but they're starting to post about the Ducks (the Pirates' parent club) a lot more often. One of the blog's writers (Chris Roy) is also writing about the Ducks on other web sites.

As for Atlanta, Greg from The Post-Pessimist Association has some Thrashers talk from time to time, though it might be a stretch to call his a hockey blog. On his blogroll, though, is a link to a newer Thrashers blog called Do The Thrashers Have Large Talons?. That one might be too new (March '06) to fit your criteria, though I don't think it's any newer than Army of Ohio, which is on your list.

I guess I'll plug my own blog here...
"Five Hole Fanatics" is dedicated to the Flames. We've been going since last September. Also, one of the contributors is the author of this Salary Cap Site that's making the rounds...

Hah! Well, at least now I know my inability to find any blogs for those teams wasn't just me being lazy and/or blind. I'm particularly interested in both Chicago and St. Louis since they're division rivals on my end, and so half the teams the Blue Jackets playing lacking any blogs sort of leaves me without a fan perspective from the other side of the match-ups.

And thanks for adding me, by the way. I'll be sure to fire off two random entries so I meet that 50 entry minimal by next week. :-p

No problem, Mike. It's nice to see a quality new blog for a relatively recent club.

Here's hoping Columbus fans are really starting to get their blogosphere off the ground — the more voices that are critical of what's happening there, the better.
