'I'm proud of who I am'
A nice piece on Todd Bertuzzi from yesterday, from the Miami Herald, Bertuzzi's new hometown paper, of all places.
Has the incident changed the way Bertuzzi plays the game? He strokes his finely trimmed beard. This one he wants to answer. He has not stopped being a 6-3, 245-pound brute of a right wing whose style is a lot about intimidation and physicality. He stops, period, when that happens. The civil suit is still pending here, and I for one am hoping it's not something that financially ruins Bertuzzi. The last thing hockey needs is a precedent where the courts become heavily involved. (And I don't mean there can't be an award here; I'd just like to see it fall well short of the $20-million Steve Moore is seeking).
"To be the best,'' he says, "you have to be on this line at all times. People who don't play can't understand."
