Laraque's big goodbye
I really hadn't realized Georges Laraque was this popular in Edmonton:The lineup was a two-hour wait from back to front, but still not enough time for Colleen Zaworski to compose herself at the sight of big Georges Laraque.Any marginal player that can draw a huge crowd from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. like that deserves to stay. My guess is that, at some point, 'Big Georges' will be back in Edmonton.
Tears welled in her eyes as she told the fan favourite that the Edmonton Oilers made a mistake not re-signing him and how the community will miss him and his big smile. Laraque is to her kids what Wayne Gretzky was to her when she was growing up, she said.

No on has said anything here, so I feel obliged.
WE LOVE YOU GEORGES!!!
I wish Los Angeles went after him. He would've been a good fit with the Kings.
From the perspective of putting the best possible team on the ice, I can see why Lowe didn't resign him. From the perspective of the fan with a significant emotional investment in the life and times of the club, and who's already seen the biggest name we've had in many years bugger off for God knows what reason, keeping a fan favourite who wants to be there is a no brainer.
WE LOVE YOU GEORGES!!!
