The next Gretzky

Ty Gretzky, son of hockey's all-time greatest player, Wayne Gretzky, has enrolled at Shattuck-St. Mary's in Faribault, Minn., to play hockey this season.

Ty is a 6-foot, 155-pound sophomore forward who will be able to play away from the pressure that would surround him in Phoenix, where his legendary father coaches the NHL's Coyotes.

"He's a nice kid and good student who just wants to play hockey," said J.P. Parise, the former North Star who recruits for Shattuck-St. Mary's. "We don't have names on the back of our jerseys, so he can live his own life here."

Yes, because when you think of places that are a pressure cooker for a junior hockey player, it goes Peterborough--Oshawa-Kamloops-Swift Current... and Phoenix.

Maybe he picked the school because they don't have names on the jerseys. It has to be tough to play the sport that your father is one of the best ever.

True... but there's going to pressure no matter what when you have that name.

Why not just go into baseball? :)

At least there won't be any money pressure on the kid. Unless Janet bets it all away.

Talk to Keith and Brent about playing with "that" name on the back of your jersey. Yes it will be hard to play with that name.

Considering Tyler Gretzky is not even on the AAA squad I don't think we can expect him to be amazing. Sounds like he is just a nice kid who likes to play hockey, and there is nothing wrong with that

ryan shields- they both played great that day. i too agree they were both very shy. wayne came over to the bench and i remmeber my dad kevin shields telling us to feed the puck to them because we wanted him to score the winning goal. AND MAN did he put that sucker in with almost no time to spear. for a while i remeber they tryed different sports since then but to hear that they decided to go to to that amazing school with such a great hockey program make me know they will become the best
