New season, new ads

Have a peak at one of the NHL's new set of Game On! advertisements that are going to be used to promote the league throughout the season, with this one featuring Peter Forsberg.

Anyone miss the warrior ads yet?

I think they must have fired that big marketing company that over-created last years advertisments and replaced them with some with someone with zero creativity and zero writing abilities at all. The dialog in that ad was horrible.

The new ads were done by Jason Reitman, of "Thank You For Smoking" fame.

Yeah, the dialog was horrible, but at least these ads have a few things the "warrior" ads didn't -- a prominent player (who is named in the ad) and prominent placement of a team logo.

If it prompts even a handful of people to Google "Peter Forsberg", then all is not lost.

Not a bad start, but hopefully they get better from here...the NHL can't afford to be "the sport with the stupid commercials" again.

There should be a rule in advertising and commericals that pro atheletes are NOT actors. They look so awkward doing this kind of thing.

I found the Forsberg one at least worth a chuckle. It's not like NBA or NFL players have more acting ability than Foppa.

Regarding those ads from last year: I could get used to having some slinky babe in lingerie helping me put on my shoulder pads every game! (The candles in the dressing room were a little much, though.)

I actually find it somewhat amusing.

Anything is better than the ridiculous ads from last year.

They should just bring back those old Nike goalie commercials and slap the NHL logo on them.

Learn how to make a kick save

The old ESPN commercials were great too, back when ESPN cared about the NHL

Oh hockey commercials, you keep me in business.

I'm glad they're not expecting these guys to talk or anything, but Cheechoo just looks creepy floating on that surfboard, not blinking.
