Smyth's big night

It's a ways off of Bill Mosienko's 54-year-old record, but Edmonton's Ryan Smyth just notched a hat trick in two minutes and one second tonight in the third period to rally his team to a 5-4 lead over San Jose.

UPDATE Smyth's feat surpasses a 25-year-old Oilers' record set by Wayne Gretzky, who had a hat trick in 2:18 back in 1981.

UPDATE Ales Hemsky adds another goal as Edmonton wins 6-4.

Where the hell are you, Cosh? Get on BoA!!!

The record is ridiculous. 3 goals in 21 seconds.

This game must be the NHL's dream. 4 breakaways in the 3rd period alone. The crowd sounds like they have been collectively orgasming for about the past 8 minutes.
