Bring on the Vanier Cup

The championship game in Canadian university football kicks off tomorrow at 3 p.m. and I've got the preview and 'five things to watch' up at GlobeSports.com.

The Saskatchewan Huskies face the Laval Rouge et Or in what should be quite a contest considering they're expecting a high of -20 C in Saskatoon. I hope the fans in attendance brought their woollies.

UPDATE. I'm going to be watching and writing on the game as it happens tomorrow, so feel free to email me or comment in this thread as things get going.

The game is going to be The Score's "most ambitious" broadcast to date, according to The Globe and Mail's Bill Houston, and will be shot in high definition. There will also be pre- and postgame shows, which is about as "big time" as the Canadian university sports scene has ever been.

It's great to see the network stepping up and providing unique Canadian content — despite the fact the audiences aren't always there.

For curious readers in the U.S. and overseas, the Vanier Cup will be webcast on universitysport.ca

I'll have more tomorrow as things get underway.

Mmmm...sweet Vanier :). Saskatoon has been buzzing all week. You can't go anywhere without hearing about the Vanier. The official forecast is -21, and -37 with the windchill (give or take). The ladz at CanadianRules will be there, so we'll get ya a good rundown of the action, both in the stands and on the field :)

Right on, arcanas.
The U of S campus has been getting crazier all week (I've been avoiding leaving my building while at work...)
Newspaper/ TV/radio is saturated with Vanier talk. This is HUGE for our little city.
I'll be watching from the comfort of my living room :) Go Huskies!

That seems to be the cry in Saskatoon for the last five years. I'm beginning to wonder if we managed to pick up the mojo from the 60-70 Roughriders. Four trips to the Vanier in five years, and nothing to show for it. Sigh.
