the "City of Champions" needs to get over it. Chris Pronger should not have to expand on his personal reasons for wanting out. And he CERTAINLY should not have to call a press conference to satisfy the useless questions from the media to sell their papers.
In my opinion he's handled the whole situation quite poorly. He's certainly not getting good advice from his agent and others, otherwise such a press conference wouldn't have been necessary in the first place.
If he had addressed the story directly and in a more timely fashion in the off-season, much of the ill will directed his way could have been avoided. I'm nost saying he had to disclose what the personal reasons were, but at least acknowledge the situation in a more mature and respectful manner.
After all, it is the fans of this game that are ultimately paying his multi-million dollar salary.
Interestingly, Pronger talks about the trade request "getting out" as if his agent wasn't the one who made it public.
It may have served Pronger's own purpose, but it sure made it harder for Lowe to trade him. It's this kind of funny stuff that annoys Oilers fans, not the Yoko Ono wife/humping a newscaster businesss (although gossip + interweb = unfettered speculation).
Not like Oilers fans HAVEN'T gotten over it. The word Pronger is spoken rarely, and it hushed tones, as most fans want to forget he ever was on the team.
pretty uneventful night in edmonton last night. A bit of booing, but no more than one might expect.
