Go get 'em, Mr. Young

Belated congrats are in order for Chris Young, who is taking on the second-in-command role in the sports department of this country's biggest paper.

The unfortunate side effect of him moving on up in the Star's hierarchy is that his blog, JABS, is being laid to rest. With all of the negativity online and among the blog community towards the mainstream media, Chris's involvement in it the past year or so gave everyone a refreshing glimpse of the kind of intelligence and personality in this industry that I've come to know in my time working in the sports media.

The personal approach he took on is something I think we really need to continue to develop, and his moving up the chain is only going to mean great things for the Star.

I think that goes both ways, James.

I thoroughly enjoyed participating in the pre-season roundtable on his blog. It will be missed.

Too bad you spent most of it slagging Marc Savard, Lyle!

As much time as you spent defending Martin Gerber, James!
