The 'new' Blogger revolution

This blog's now on the 'new' blogger format, which means you'll see things like subject labels at the end of some posts (I guess). It should also mean there will be far fewer outages.

Do any bloggers already using the new template have any suggestions as to some of the more useful functions?

Hi James,

Search engines love labels/categories/tags - or whatever Blogger is calling them. I'd definitely recommend thinking up and using categories when applicable.

Players names as tags are indispensable. I see what is typed in as searches thanks to the site meter, and often it is in question form with a players name, such as: What year did Gretzky win the Cup? Even if you have the answer, the search engine only picks up on the Gretzky name. If one were to subtitle or tag related posts as "Stanley Cup Winners", the search would not find it. Unless a search is specific, and a tag is specific, there will be no match.

I found out yesterday that Gumper had passed just by the amount of times his name appeared in searches. All were worded differently, butlead to my site because months ago i had tagged his name.

Once you start tagging you can just pick them out from a list at the bottom of your post format (it also recognizes each tag as you type them to save you time.)

If you think the new blogger is going to be more reliable than the old blogger, you would be mistaken.
