A request

Does anyone know of anywhere online where boxscores from individual games dating back to the 1980s are available? What's the largest archive of this type on the 'net?

I was going to recommend the hockey hist newsgroup/mailinglist or, but both look to be down at the moment.

You might be able to find something here:

This site is just for the Philadelphia Flyers, but it's a start (I suspect that you'll be more likely to find this info on a team-by-team basis).

Maybe the Hockey Hall of Fame might have an online database of some sort?

Just some thoughts.

It'll be easy enough to go through the league's stat avenues; I was just curious if anything like this was available for Joe fan to sift through.

Unfortunately it seems all of the league's detailed statistical info only goes back five or six years.

This site has final scores for games dating way back, but unfortunately no box scores.

Did you ask Tyler? He has spreadsheets upon spreadsheets of stuff.

This site you can get box scores from 98/99 to present. It's no 1980s database, but a bit more than most.

As gscarows said, the best site I know of for that type of info is

It gives all the scores and dates, so at least you can find the precise date if you're looking for one particular game. For instance, here's all the Oilers results in 82-83:

After that, it's off to the library to look at microfiche of the next day's newspaper to find the boxscore.

(At least, that's what I've always done.)
