Sharkspage's P.J. Swenson has a solid interview up online today with former blogger and current Toronto Star deputy sports editor Chris Young:
The newspaper business is really at a crossroads. The physical newspaper model no longer applies, either in terms of people's day-to-day lives ... or more importantly, as a business. So advertising is down, circulation has flatlined, and the concentration of newspaper ownership has become more pronounced. The sooner we become web brands instead of print brands, the better chance we will have of surviving. But adaptation is a hard go.It's not revolutionary stuff — but it's good to read the thoughts and viewpoints of one of the Canadian sports media's higher-ups. Here's hoping Young stays connected to the blogosphere even as he moves onto other projects.
