Korolyuk deal voided

The Sharks' trade to reacquire Alexander Korolyuk from New Jersey was voided Thursday because he has opted to stay with his club in the Russian Elite League.

"The deal was contigent on him reporting,'' General Manager Doug Wilson said. "He's not reporting."

The Sharks sent the Devils a third-round pick last week for the Russian winger, but Wilson attached stipulations to the deal, given Korolyuk's penchant for changing his mind.

Does this mean Malakhov goes back to the Devils?

The Malakhov deal was a deal (involving Korolyuk) made prior in the season. This deal that has been voided was just made last week that would have seen Korolyuk sent back to the Sharks. So no, the rights (and contract) to Malakhov will not be going back to the Devils.
