DiPietro to sit

Reports from Long Island indicate the New York Islanders are going to be without starting netminder Rick DiPietro tonight in Ottawa, as he continues to be bothered by the effects of an apparent concussion. The team had said he would be re-evaluated early today for what the Isles were calling 'general body soreness', but I think it's evident, especially with the news that he'll be sitting tonight, that it could be something much more serious.

DiPietro has had a concussion in the past, a mild one suffered at the beginning of last season, so there's some reason for worry. Mike Dunham hasn't started a game in months, but will be between the pipes tonight as New York continues to fight for one of the Eastern Conference's final playoff spots.

the injury gods appear to be smiling on the Leafs for once, what with Huet, Ward, and now DiPietro missing time down the stretch.

I wouldn't want to be Henrik Lundqvist right now.

Lundqvist is the only one of the group for which I haven't been able to collect a hair sample for the voodoo doll.

Ummm, forget I mentioned it at all.
