An entry for the...
Anonymous Commenter Hall of Fame

From this post:
"Hello, Pedant's Anonymous? There's a guy named 'Rick' on Mirtle's site who insists on distinguishing 'south' and 'South.' Can you please invite him to one of your meetings and remind him that here in Canada, nobody give's a rat's a** about U.S. regions, and anything south of St. Louis is pretty much south to us, whether or not that city's state flew Old Glory in the War to Keep Slaves.

Somewhere Between the Northwest and the Panhandle.

You know... I wasn't involved in that conversation, but was thinking about making a smarmy comment just because some ass was talking about how "Canadians don't give a rats ass about US regions"... But I didnt - because I thought "Do I really need to be a smart ass, what does this have to do with hockey?"

And then, James, you go and post it on the main page :)

Hi, it's me.

Please explain how I'm "anonymous" when you have my name?

Anyway, the point was that hockey has more of a chance in Phoenix and Florida due to the fact they are made up entirely of relocated people than it does in, say, Nashville.

Thanks for not caring.

Anyway, just to clarify--does a team have a better chance in Phoenix or Winnipeg? That's not even close.

A team has a better chance in just about anywhere in Canada than just about anywhere in the US.

What I was trying to say before I became the subject of an international incident was that I think Phoenix isn't lowest on the list needing to move back.

I think Nashville is. I think if Dallas hadn't been a winner in the past they would be moving again too. Same with Carolina. They'll be bandwagon for a while, then forgotten. Atlanta might have enough transplants to carry a team. Florida and Tampa should also have enough transplants.

So, that was my point. And, also no one calls Phoenix the South. That's like saying BC is a Maritime providence because it's by the sea.

But, I know, you don't care.

I don't have a clue what you're talking about; the above quoted post wasn't written under your handle.

Also, in the original post, I had said a 'southern market' not a 'market in the South.' I'll leave it to you to determine if there's a difference.

Rick, the comment posted is a reply to your comment and not your original one.

My own favourite sport used to be calling Texans "Yankees" when they were badmouthing Canada. Always fun for giggles, if trolling's your thing.

the fact that I'm reading a hockey blog should tip you off to the fact that I'm not a "texan." Good try though. A for effort.
