No, it's pretty easy to assess. Mike Keenan again screwed the pooch and made one of the worst trades in NHL history. Even with that trio healthy it was a terrible deal.

As you know from the newspaper business, James, headline writers are separate from the copy writers like yourself, with the result often being unintentionally hilarious or grossly misleading headlines.

In fairness to this headline writer, though, what he wrote may be true. It is in fact tough to assess if this is the worst trade in NHL history, or merely in the top five.

How come all these geniuses come out of the woodwork one year later and say what a crappy trade it was. I didn't here a peep about anyone calling Keenan a fool for making this deal then. At the time, I thought it was a good deal for Vancouver - but Florida seemingly got good value in return; after all Luongo was coming off a sub par year...

A lot of the work I do is as a copyeditor, which at The Globe involves both page design, editing and headline writing.

Gotta love the guy who won't give his name but lectures the newspaper guy.
