Samsonov regrets going to Montreal

“I’ve been blamed for everything that has gone wrong. Why stop now?” Sergei Samsonov said. “Obviously, looking back, I regret my decision (to sign with the Canadiens). All you can do is make things different and learn from your mistakes. Things could have been done and handled differently.”
Samsonov's certainly not making things any easier for GM Bob Gainey, who reportedly ran into a little difficulty last summer in luring some of the free agents he wanted to Montreal.

The Canadiens may be just one point back of both Toronto and Carolina, who are tied for ninth in the playoff push, but having played one more game, it's going to be quite a hill to climb. Montreal needs to go at least 8-3-1 to get a sniff of that eighth position — an utter impossibility for a team that has won just six games since January (6-12-1).

I am sure Montreal regrets signing Samsonov so the feeling is mutual.

Who is this Samsonov fellow?
Is he related to the guy that used to play for the Bruins or some IHL scrub?
