A sound suggestion
One GM wondered aloud to ESPN.com why there are games at all on deadline day. With the possibility of 30 or more NHL players on the move, wouldn't it be better to create a dead day in the schedule so players could more easily join their new teams?

File it under Logical Suggestions which coincidentally is a trash bin in the corner of the NHL offices.
Who does Mr. Burnside think he is? How dare he offer a suggestion that is good for the game, the league, the players, the fans AND the teams!
Please. This league takes enough breaks as it is. Just play hockey.
What if greater than 50% of the trades happen the day before the deadline? What about the teams that make their deals before the deadline? In theory it is a nice idea, but somewhat hard to justify in my opinion.
Doesn't Bettman's precious NBA do precisely this very thing?
You know, so the Philadelphia Flyers can play more than their 4 remaining players plus 25 OHL callups after trading half their team for players?
