Canada's roster up to 16

Cam Ward, Dwayne Roloson

Dan Hamhuis, Shea Weber, Eric Brewer, Barret Jackman, Mike Commodore

Jordan Staal, Jay McClement, Justin Williams, Eric Staal, Mike Cammalleri, Shane Doan, Jamal Mayers, Jason Chimera, Rick Nash
The two young Predators defencemen join Jordan Staal on Steve Yzerman's growing roster for Team Canada, a group that looks pretty green at this point. Yzerman still needs to add a third netminder, at least one more defenceman and three more forwards prior to the team's first game on Saturday in Moscow.

With the Tampa Bay Lightning bowing out this afternoon, that frees up what could be the team's final four skaters in Martin St. Louis, Vincent Lecavalier, Brad Richards and Dan Boyle, although there could also be some good options from the Calgary-Detroit and/or Stars-Canucks series as well (Iginla, Tanguay, Morrison, Morrow, Boucher, etc.).

Definitely a young team but I'm happy with the look of the D. I'd like some more firepower up front which should happen once some Tampa folks show up.

How many players can the team invite before picking the final roster?

There won't be cuts; they wouldn't make an NHLer fly to Russia only to sit on the bench.

Once the roster is filled out, that's it — barring injuries.

One has to wonder if the third goaltender might come from the Vancouver-Dallas series, no matter who loses out.
