I think this is right, after tonight:
Montreal: 2 points and they're in. 1 point and they can only be beaten by NYI (1/2)
Toronto: 2 points and they could be in if NYI aren't (~3/8)
NYI: In if they get 2 wins and Toronto beats Montreal. (~1/8 chance)

8th place is at least 91
Could be 92.

Toronto has to beat Montreal in regulation, however; even with two points, the Maple Leafs can still lose out to either the Habs or Islanders.

Who came closest? I wish I would have made a prediction.

looks like it could be down to the wire in both conferences. should be interesting to see.

i'm hoping that toronto beats montreal in regulation, and calgary gets the win they need. the islanders do have a pretty decent chance at still getting the 8th spot, despite the fact that philly has been playing pretty well recently; new jersey may chose to rest some of their better players, as last year i'm sure showed them that entering the playoffs on a winning streak means exactly nothing.

despite the fact that montreal draws huge crowds, both toronto and new york are probably larger hockey markets, new york especially from a league perspective as far as selling the game in the US; just a thought for the conspiracy theorists if montreal happens to get the game called against them.
