Emery has an accident

Ottawa Senators star goalie Ray Emery still had time to sign a few autographs after a chain-reaction crash on the Queensway Friday afternoon.

Witnesses reported Mr. Emery was eastbound on Hwy. 417 near Carling Avenue in his white Hummer when it and another vehicle collided as he [was] attempting to pass at about 3:15 p.m.
Emery reportedly missed his flight to New Jersey yesterday due to the collision, but the netminder has since joined the team in the swamp. As he was not present at the game-day skate this morning, Emery's yet to make a statement regarding the accident.

I can tell you this much - the media in Ottawa is all prepared to blame Emery if the Sens lose tonight because of the most minor of minor accidents.

The accident didn't seem to distract Emery too much. He was awesome tonight. Congratulations to the Sens.

This wasn't the first time this season Emery has missed a team flight, or been late for team functions. (He was late for the flight - it was due to leave at 3, and the accident occured a long way from the airport well after 3.)

You could tell by Bryan Murray's tone that he was a little ticked to be dealing with this distraction at playoff time. Emery is a great young goaltender with a bright future ahead of him, but off the ice he needs to grow up a bit. He can still have all the bling bling, the flashy suits, the tats, and his hummer and sports car, and still act like a responsible adult. You're getting paid big bucks, and you have people counting on you - buy an alarm clock.
