The Kitchener perspective

In February, RIM purchased a large plot of land — 26 acres, Kiefer said — in Cambridge off Can-Amera Parkway, between Lingard and Townline roads. ...

Might be a simple plot on which to build grand new digs for bursting-at-the-seams RIM, now occupying 21 buildings in Waterloo.

Or the site could land in Balsillie's hands and become a perfect place to erect a big rink for a big-time team.

Close to the 401. Close to the Breslau airport, where international flights are welcome.

Most importantly, it appears to sit about 82 km from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. You see, the Toronto Maple Leafs hold a veto power over any plans to drop another NHL club within 80 km of their ice palace.

The Leafs seem out of the picture.

1) Would big Jim want to keep the team in Nashville until the arena is built, or move to another as of yet unnamed city until its finished in the Kitchener area?

House the Preds in Copps Coliseum until the RIMRink is built. Better a full house in Hamilton, where you can build your fanbase (and corporate support), than an empty shell in Nash Vegas. Don't forget - this team is likelier than Toronto to compete for the Cup in the near future. You want that to happen at home.

Yeah, those back-to-back first round exits sure indicate a team on the brink!

Back-to-back first round exits are definitely better than back-to-back missing the playoffs.

Heh, Leaf fans are funny.

ppp, would you rather Nashville's roster or MLSE's? Even with the Preds sure to lose a couple guys this summer.

With money behind them this team will be a contender for a while.

40 years my friend, 40 years. Without even a trip to the final.

Doesn't that piss you off? A lot?

Really? It's like coming in 16th in a race by inches. More semantics than anything.

Pat, of course it pisses me off. So much so that I can't think about it for fear of the rising blood pressure killing me.
