Luongo's secret

Goaltender Roberto Luongo still won't say why he was late returning for the first overtime period of Vancouver's loss to the Anaheim Ducks Thursday night that eliminated the Canucks from the NHL playoffs.

"It was not an equipment problem," Luongo said Sunday as the Canucks cleaned out their lockers. "Let's leave it like that."

"It was an illness and nothing serious."

Luongo didn't answer when a reporter asked if the delay was caused because he was forced to use the bathroom.
Okay everyone — let's hear your theories.

Dehydration? They shoot him up with some IV's because he cramped up while getting ready, because they said they didn't know until about 5 minutes before the OT started. That is my theory.

Illness and nothing serious? Diarrhea, I say!

Probably an intestinal virus. Luongo was probably afraid of doing what Robbie Tobeck did while playing for the Seattle Seahawks a few years ago.

Well, the Sedins did have the flu, so it's possible it affected Luongo as well.

There was an article in today's Vancouver Sun that basically confirms what Daniel said. He was resting during the intermission, then stood up to go out and realized he had to GO!

I can't believe it was cramps, cause he would've just said so. Instead, he looked kinda embarrassed, wich makes me believe it was a BIG #2...

Actually, he was on the phone with Dave Nonis, to tell him that if the Canucks don't get at least one player who can score a goal, he's going to pull a "Chris Pronger" this fall !

Equipment, laughs..
He was having Dennis Lemiuex-like flashbacks in net and needed time to calm down.

Luongo probably figured maybe his teammates would play a little better without him back there, because well, they'd have to!

Once composed, he got his gear together and got back out there.
