Isn't it ironic...

Grammy award-winning recording artist and Ottawa native Alanis Morissette will perform the U.S. and Canadian national anthems at Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final in Ottawa, Monday, June 4. NBC will telecast the game live in the U.S. starting at 8:00 p.m. ET, and CBC and RDS will provide coverage throughout Canada.
Who would've thought... it figures.

No, no, no, no, no. They finally make it to the final, and they ditch Lyndon Slewidge - one of the best anthem singers in the league - for Alanis freaking Morrisette?

What a slap in the face to Slewidge. Can you imagine the Oilers replacing Paul Lorieau once they got to the finals last year?

Whoops, I misread that, I thought Alanis was doing both games 3 and 4. Still, the point stands - why mess with success?

Hopefully she will do a better job on the U.S. anthem than Stephen Stills...

I'd like to know what Alanis plans on doing with all that ass. All that ass inside her jeans.

You mean you have one person sing the national anthem at every game? Interesting. I've never heard of that.

I've heard an awful lot of really awful anthems sung, so i can see the advantage.

Personally that's one advantage i feel we have in Nashville. A plethora of talent rotating through singing the anthem. A friend of mine even got to sing it last year for the Preds game vs the Sens. And when it comes to playoff time, we get to trot out more real local celebs.

Hey, if Constable Slewidge loses his anthem gig, I'm sure Tim Hortons Donuts would be willing to hire him in his formal OPP uniform to do testimonial commercials for them.

Is there a point to singing a national anthem at a game played by multi-nationals in front of multi-ethnics? Does Alfredsson get fired up listening to O Canada?
A team song makes more sense. Or something befitting the context. For tonight, I suggest the Mickey Mouse March:
Mickey Mouse. Mighty Ducks
Mickey Mouse. Mighty Ducks
M-I-C, K-E-Y, B-U-R-K-E.

C'mon niw , she's Ottawa's version of Kate Smith ~ the Sens are 1-0 lifetime when she sings the anthem - I know I was there at game 1
