Kings get in the game
The Los Angeles Kings got busy on the second day of NHL free agency, reeling centre Michal Handzus, winger Ladislav Nagy, defenceman Tom Preissing and winger Kyle Calder.I was wondering where GM Dean Lombardi was yesterday, as the Kings were expected to be among the biggest players this summer. My guess is that not a lot of the top-tier talent wanted to go to a team in the middle of a rebuild, so Lombardi went for the next best thing.— Canadian Press
Nagy might just turn out to be the best pickup of the bunch given his talent level.

Los Angeles has some good young players and those are some decent guys to surround them with but ultimately the Kings success is almost totally dependent on getting substantially better goaltending than last season. If Handzus is healthy he could be one of the better free agent signings this summer though he didn't come cheap.
Calder and Preissing were good signings. However, Lombardi "missed the boat" when he signed Handzus and Nagy.
LA has to play in a "tough neighbourhood" (Anahiem, San Jose & Dallas). You need to be big and tough to play against those teams' and Handzus and Nagy are neither.
Thats why Phoenix and Dallas let Nagy go.
Nagy's biggest problem is that he's injury prone; he put up a lot of points when he was healthy in Phoenix playing in that division.
Handzus is 6'5" and 220lbs and is a big, physical two-way player. He can certainly handle the physical play of teams such as the Ducks.

I take it that you've never actually seen Michal Handzus play.
