The players' perspective

"I think Wayne Gretzky said it best a few weeks ago," a player connected to the NHLPA's current restructuring said. "He has no doubts that a team would flourish and I couldn't agree more. It would be more of a sure thing than moving a team to Kansas City.

"We're always in favour of a move or decision that would increase hockey-related revenues. With a person like Jim Balsillie, who appears to have a strong passion for our game, it would be silly not to include him as an owner."

I would like to see a team in KC. It would give us something new to watch. It would be sad seeing a team go, but moving a team could really bring the team up. They would have a new crowd that would be very excited, new jerseys, etc.

is that any different from a move to Hamilton?

The league is run by idiots.

Plus, why wouldn't they let the Predators move to Hamilton and do their usual cash-grab thing by making Kansas City an expansion team a year later?

Well, that is a fine quote coming from a player. If this CBA is a partnership -- then surely Hamilton is a slam dunk to increase HRR and therefore salaries.

The players should fight for a role on the Board of Governors I would think.
