Tocchet at the World Series of Poker
We're not sure who is giving career advice to Rick Tocchet and Janet Jones, but they might want to look for second opinions in the future. The timing of the whole thing is what gets me. Tocchet is scheduled to be sentenced in just more than a month, and you really wonder how the optics of the whole thing will look given gambling has ruined his reputation and career aspirations.
With nothing to do while on indefinite suspension from his job as associate coach of the Coyotes and while awaiting sentencing on third-degree conspiracy and promoting gambling convictions, Tocchet decided it would be a terrific idea to enter the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.
Of course, there's a big difference between competing in a poker tournament and what Tocchet pleaded guilty to, but there's certainly a connection there.

I wonder what the odds are for Tocchet getting another job in hockey...
I still say what Tocchet did was only wrong because it was illegal, but I don't know if we want to get into that again.
Well, illegal isn't neccesarily mean immoral, but it's still illegal. The immoral part, however, might be helping put more money into the mob's hands.
The optics? The only people who seemed concerned are media types who need something to write about. Very few fans actually seem to care that Tocchet was involved in any sort of sports betting/whatever.
Still, you'd think Tocchet would know better... a little common sense?
I'd argue that the league seems to care.
Oh THAT'S what the league cares about. I was wondering, since they clearly don't care about the fans, the game, the rules, TV contracts and the future all told.
Good to know they're on it.
The one thing seriously lacking on the comments in blogs is unnecessary sarcasm.
Really. I mean it.
I mean it.
you had me going right up until this.
Seems he was a no-show for day #2
