Bryzgalov: Edmonton sucks

Normally, you can rely on the Oilers wing of the hockey blogosphere to come up with just about every Edmonton-related hockey nugget out there. (Anyone else wish they could eliminate any and all knowledge of Joffrey Lupul's shooting percentages from their brain?)

Which is why I was shocked to discover a lost video clip of Anaheim Ducks backup netminder Ilya Bryzgalov defending teammate Chris Pronger and trashing the Albertan city as being part of "the North Pole."

(As an aside, does anyone know if The Score provided helium for this interview? My does he have an odd voice for a 6-foot-3 Russian hockey player.)

Later, "Bryz" gets into the intricacies of his goalie mask: "I dunno what dis is; I not order this. Just... duck."

Riiiight.

This is the same guy who told the local rag in the frozen turdland that is Mother Russia that he was going to be Anaheim's No. 1 goalie last year. Five games into the season, in which he was pulled twice, Coach Carlyle said he had "no confidence in the guy."
But in his defence, he has English language issues. How do you explain the bright lights dropping comments on the YouTube clip. Anybody living in a city built entirely on graft, populated by leech politicians and their fart-catchers, visiting museums paid for by Canadian taxpayers (i.e. people who have jobs) ripping on Edmonton (and Alberta). Enjoy your impending have-not status, Ontario. This time, we might just follow through on that promise to let you b@stards freeze in the dark.

Boy, what happened Jethro? Granny not get them vittles for you in Edmonton?
Mirtle is from BC. Oh and by the way, people in Ontario would take Alberta seriously if it wasn't populated by rednecks, idiots and the losers that can make it in real freaking provinces like Ontario, ya'll
Chew on that pal.

a) I really don't recall Bryzgalov being pulled twice in the first five games, nor twice in the first twenty games. But even if that were true,

b) let's not rely on old quotes as today's facts. Carlyle certainly relied enough on Bryzgalov in the first round of the playoffs that whatever might have been quoted was obviously no longer true.

I love the Bryzgalov quote machine, though. It's probably a sad sign, because it really means that player interviews have really gotten stale and boring, but Bryz is honest and refreshing at least. More English-speaking players should try that.

That's old news. We all saw that thing on tv here about six million times. As for a reason we didn't put too much stock in it, see 2005/2006 playoffs.
