I guess Pisani's misfortune is Carter's good fortune.

If Lowe can get him for under $900k for a year its not a bad gamble - they can't go with too many rookies, they need some NHL experience.

However, Carter has a very high opinion of his talents, and if he has a reasonable camp, I doubt he will sign for that amount, but will instead hold out for a higher offer from another team.

Hopefully, Lowe will not be as dumb as Doug McLean was last year ($2.5 million) and will let Carter go if he wants more than $900k, and more than a one year contract.

Wow, talk about a desparate move by a desparate man. Carter has been nothing but a lazy blog when not paired with the Sedinbots. He rarely works hard enough to take advantage of his skills, and doesn't have the natural speed to get away with floating so often. I don't know if MacTavish is the coach to get much out of Carter...

I hope he does sign a nice big contract with the Oilers, tho

Teams negotiate terms before signing try-out deals so Carter's possible success doesn't change his salary one way or another.

Well, it does. Play shitty and you're gone.

Btw, unbeliavble to see guys like Carter, Sopel and others sign try-out deal when they were making millions just months ago.

In Carter's case I have to say this: You see the same people on the way up and down!

Anson, remember to wave to The Twins and Canucks while passing them on your way down.

Play him on a line with Nilsson and Stoll. If he makes the team he will score at his 15% rate. On that second line he would get 175 shots. 26 goals from a $1M gut would be great. IF doesn't make it Oh well. does not cost a thing.
