Ducks acquire Mowers

Anaheim has traded for Mark Mowers from Boston in exchange for prospect defencemen Brett Skinner and Nathan Saunders. The Ducks also assigned Petteri Wirtanen to the AHL.

A smallish centre, Mowers has been a decent contributer at the minor-league level, scoring 34 goals in the AHL while in the Detroit system in 2002-03. Since then, he's been a checking-line regular in the NHL, and will give Anaheim some much-needed depth on the fourth line.

Glen Metropolit's strong showing at Bruins camp may have made Mowers expendable.

Skinner and Saunders were midround picks in 2002 and 2003 and both played some time in the ECHL last season. They're longshots to contribute at the NHL level.

I didn't know that what Mark Mowers did was newsworthy :)

I just didn't see this anywhere else and figured it was worth a blurb.
