Ducks close in on final roster

The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has assigned left wings Jason King and Drew Miller, and defensemen Aaron Rome and Brett Skinner to the Portland Pirates, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Among the bubble players who will be sticking around for at least the early portion of the season are Bobby Ryan, Brandon Segal, Ryan Carter, Petteri Wirtanen, Shane Hnidy, Maxim Kondratiev, Jonas Hiller and Gerald Coleman.

Anaheim's roster is down to 27 players, but J.S. Giguere, Mathieu Schneider and Sami Pahlsson are all ailing, so there's a decent chance the majority of the remaining 24 get into some action.

They don't have to trim down to 23 until after the London games, right? So all these guys are travelling with the team for the first two regular season games at least.
