The early returns

If you haven't submitted your vote on the playoff teams, feel free to get it in here. The polls will remain open until the first games in the Western (Sept. 29) and Eastern conferences (Oct. 3).

After about 18 hours of voting, here's how the 340~ responses see things shaking out this season (rank based on likelihood of making playoffs):

East
  1. Ottawa (98%)
  2. Pittsburgh (97%)
  3. N.Y. Rangers (96%)
  4. Buffalo (91%)
  5. New Jersey (82%)
  6. Tampa Bay (59%)
  7. Philadelphia (56%)
  8. Carolina (55%)
  9. Toronto (38%)
  10. Florida (31%)
  11. Montreal (29%)
  12. Atlanta (26%)
  13. Washington (18%)
  14. N.Y. Islanders (7%)
  15. Boston (6%)
West
  1. Detroit (99%)
  2. Anaheim (98%)
  3. San Jose (98%)
  4. Colorado (90%)
  5. Vancouver (89%)
  6. Calgary (85%)
  7. Minnesota (70%)
  8. Dallas (67%)
  9. Nashville (31%)
  10. St. Louis (22%)
  11. Los Angeles (17%)
  12. Edmonton (16%)
  13. Chicago (5%)
  14. Columbus (3%)
  15. Phoenix (1%)
Some interesting predictions, although not many surprises (except perhaps that people are that unanimous in where Nashville fits in). The only new teams said to make the playoffs are Philadelphia, Carolina and Colorado, with Toronto being the bubble club once again.

I'll check in on this again in a week and see if anything shifts.
