Chara finds a victim

Our old pal David Koci is back for more. And he picked the wrong dance partner tonight.

Don't fight Chara.
Zdeno Chara wasn’t in the mood to talk about his devastating punch-out of 6-foot-6, 235-pound Chicago Blackhawk David Koci, who left the ice covered in blood and did not come back last night.

“It was just part of the game,” said Chara of the one-sided first-period fight, after the Bruins [team stats]’ 3-1 victory. “It’s something that . . . it’s part of the game. He was doing his job, going hard at the net. I was doing my job, protecting the crease and the goalie. Things like that happen.”

Koci already had a broken nose from Belak on Saturday. I won't be surprised to hear that Chara broke his hand tommorow. He was favoring it as he went off. If he did, Koci more than did his job for the season. Why is 7 million fighting the league minimum? You would think that Souray showed other high priced D exactly what not to do.

I was about to say the same thing. Koci already had at least one cut on the bridge of his nose from the Belak fight. I wouldn't be surprised if he got busted open in the same place.

Still, it was nice to see Czechoslovakia reunited, if only for a few moments.

After watching Chara throwing those loooong punches the key to fighting him is: don't drop your stick!

James, I believe you're a little unneccesarily rough on Koci.

Basically his whole career he's been a minor league defensive-defensemen enforcer. So he hasn't put up offensive production anywhere, but that's obviously not his game.

Chara is a monster, but credit Koci for still having the heart and courage to keep fighting.

Yikes. I was in a scrap like that once - some dude with a massive reach advantage was able to land a nasty haymaker, and I got to walk around with a black eye that looked like Rocky Balboa's for two weeks. If you are going to fight a guy that big, for God's sake get inside early and hold on tight!

Hockey rules, which allow you to grab a guy's jersey, provides a huge advantage for Chara. How do you get inside on a guy who can literally hold you at arm's length?

Don't fight Chara.

"Don't fight Chara.." Was'nt it Dave Lewis that said that last season? Let's hope the giant has awoken.
