Kelly to receive offer tonight
Hard-nosed former Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul Kelly will be offered the job of NHLPA Exec Dir during a conference call involving the union's board of player reps tonight, sources said. It is not expected that the 30 team reps will vote to hire Kelly on the conference call, according to one source, because the NHLPA constitution calls for a secret ballot vote to elect the post. It is not clear if the NHLPA will be able to offer Kelly an employment deal he can accept. While some sources said his hiring was a fait accompli, others said a number of details have to be worked out.
