McCabe's misplay

Did Bryan McCabe do what I think he did tonight?
"Obviously, I wasn't trying to shoot it in my own net," McCabe said. "The rebound came out. I was just trying to shoot it in the corner. It went off the post and in."
All right then, just checking.

Toronto fans just may have found their next Larry Murphy.

I've got more up at FanHouse as part of my weekly morning roundup.

Things can only get so bad before the get better, right? So tonight's game is about the worst a defense can play... can we finally expect something good out of someone other than Tomas Kaberle now? Maybe? Please?

Jesus... I couldn't believe it. He wasn't even under that much pressure! He didn't have to one-time it like Brett Hull. At the least, he had time to dump it into the corner, if not spin around quickly and lift it out of the zone. I mean, really. Really.

Does that mean that my Red Wings have a couple of Cups in their near future?

Such a shame for this to happen to such a smooth skater.

That's what I thought too.

At least Murphy got to spend his twilight years showing the ropes to a kid who became the best defense man in the NHL. And he was a damn good defense man for those later 90's Wings teams too. Somehow I doubt McCabe will get that lucky.

The best part about Bryan McCabe is his 7 million dollar contract.

Fuck you McCabe.

No kidding, obviously he doesn't MEAN to screw up every shift but he still does anyway.

I'd say he's the next Larry Murphy but there is no way he's going to play better elsewhere, win cups, and make the Hall of Fame.

He's more like my generation's Todd Gill.

No trade, no movement, $7 million a year, good thing the new CBA made it idiot proof for the League's GMs.

The problem is that idiots are inevitably so dang ingenious.

You can't idiot proof anything completely.

You can make something idiot proof but the idiots keep getting better.

Note to self, must build worse idiots.

Haha, I love when the Leafs lose. It's one of my favorite things, especially when it's to the Flyers in the playoffs.

Too bad they aren't going to make it again this year, I was looking forward to it.

I love it when the Flyers come in last in the NHL like last year.

I don't think it's possible to build worse idiots. The idiocy genes mutate at an incredible rate, so idiots are always adapting quickly to changing conditions.

Hee-hee.

Great comment PPP.

Poor old Todd Gill. Biggest heart. Not so much talent. And the biggest mistakes at the worse times.
