Off Wing named top NHL blog
Congrats are in order for Eric McErlain at Off Wing Opinion — and all of these sites, really.
I'm also proud to say I had a hand in starting up the Battle of California, which Earl Sleek and the gang have turned into an excellent forum for hockey fans in the Golden State:
Sports Media Challenge's Sports Blog Index compiled the top ten NHL blogs in the marketplace. The following sites, ranked in order, were selected with a combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis. The three general criteria for ranking are influence, community and relevance. Click here for more information. Visit www.SportsBusinessDaily.com for more info. It's good to know we're in 'the marketplace' now. That sounds like money.

Wow. 4th? Not sure it's deserved (they must really like crude cartoons), but kudos James for starting it up and throwing us some readership.
I don't know if I needed more ego, though.
Jeez, now I know how my Dad felt when I started beating him at golf. (Nice work Earl.)
Congrats, James! You have to buy the first round, now.
Mirtle, honestly, it's good see pensblog make this list.
it's been a daily stop for me for a cheap chuckle.
I'd just like to have a clearer understanding of how these sort of rankings are determined. Every single time this sort of thing comes out the lists are different. It just confuses me, more than anything.
You know there's something very deeply wrong with that list when it doesn't include Lowetide.
Or Jez Golbez, or Kuklaskorner.
It's bollocks if you ask me - no offence to the guy who does canuckscorner, but it's not even in the top 3 of Canucks blogs.
And this blog is hands down the best for quality too, I'd like to know exactly what they thought was better about Off Wing.
How the hell am I on that list? I'm honored, but know my true ranking in the blogging world, and I can say that Battle of Ontario and Alberta have to top that list.
Like I said, I'm honored, but these guys must have pulled names out of a hat or something...no offence to anyone else on the list.
Or Jez Golbez, or Kuklaskorner.

Thanks for the kind words, but I know my blog has suffered since I am so busy with work, school, and AOL FanHouse stuff. It's always been a personal hobby, so I can't say that I strive to be uber #1 blog.
The fact is, there are so many quality blogs out there (There were barely 10 hockey blogs that posted 5 times a week when I started) and we're all benefitting from the increased quality and quantity.
The incredible group of Oilers blogs are the best on the Net by several miles, and Lowetide is clearly the best of that bunch. And that's coming from a newbie fan from Houston, TX, just starting my first full season of fandom. I discovered hockey during last year's playoff run, and used the hockey blogosphere over the summer to try to learn as much as I could about my newfound favorite sport before the season started. I found many interesting and informative blogs to make part of my daily lurking, and was able to be totally objective since I don't have any preconceived knowledge of the league or long-time rooting interest in any team. The Oilogosphere immediately jumped out at me, with LT leading the way. I cannot recommend them enough (along with Mirtle and Fanhouse). Off Wing definitely makes my Top 10, too. The new Wild site, hittingthepost, is also good.
